A CapCut template QR code is a scannable square that holds a template's link. Scan it with your phone camera or Google Lens and the link opens on your phone. If CapCut is installed, the template can open in the app, ready for Use template. It is the quickest way to move a template from a computer to your phone.

Why Use a QR Code for CapCut Templates?

Browsing on a big screen is comfortable. You can watch previews properly, compare clip counts and read the details. But editing happens on your phone, where your photos and videos are.

The QR code connects the two. There is no typing a long link, no emailing it to yourself and no copying between devices. It also helps on a shared or office computer, because the template opens only on your own phone.

How to Scan a CapCut Template QR Code

The steps below work on most iPhones and Android phones. Camera menus differ by brand, so the exact buttons on your phone may look a little different.

  1. 1

Open the template on your computer

Find the template on Templatess and open its page. Watch the preview to make sure it is the edit you want.

  2. 2

    Show the QR code

Click the QR code button on the template page. A code for that template's link appears on screen.

  3. 3

Open your phone camera or Google Lens

On iPhone, open the Camera app. On Android, open the camera or Google Lens. Some phones also have a QR scanner in the quick settings panel.

  4. 4

    Point at the code

Hold the phone steady with the whole code inside the frame until a link or banner appears.

  5. 5

    Tap the link

Tap the link that appears. If CapCut is installed, choose to open it in the CapCut app; otherwise it opens in your browser.

  6. 6

    Use the template

In CapCut, tap Use template, select your clips and edit as usual.

What Is Inside the QR Code?

The QR code on each template page holds the same template link as the Use Template in CapCut button. Scanning it is exactly like tapping that button on your phone. Nothing is installed and no account is needed on our side.

Because the code points to the creator's template on CapCut, it only works while that template is online. If the creator removes it, the code will lead to a page that no longer loads. In that case, try the backup link or choose a similar template from the same category.

You can also share a template with a friend sitting next to you: open the QR code on your screen and let them scan it with their own phone.

Which Apps Can Scan a QR Code?

You almost never need a separate scanner app. These built-in options cover most phones:

PhoneWhat to useGood to know
iPhoneThe Camera appPoint it at the code and tap the link that appears. A code scanner can also be added to Control Center.
Most Android phonesThe camera app or Google LensOn some phones, QR scanning has to be switched on in the camera settings first.
Any Android phoneThe Google app or Google Lens appTap the Lens icon and point it at the code.

Google Lens can also read a QR code from a screenshot. If someone sends you a code as an image, open it in Google Photos or the Google app and tap the Lens icon to see the link.

Scanning With a Tablet

Tablets work the same way. iPads can scan codes with the Camera app, and Android tablets can use the camera or Google Lens. The template opens on whichever device scanned the code, so make sure CapCut is installed on that device if you plan to edit there.

What If the QR Code Won't Scan?

Most scanning problems come down to the screen or the camera, not the code itself. Try these in order:

  • Turn up your screen brightness And zoom the page so the code is bigger.
  • Cut the glare Tilt the screen or switch off a light behind you if there is a reflection across the code.
  • Clean the camera lens A smudged lens is a common reason codes won't read.
  • Move closer or farther Keep the whole code inside the frame with a little space around it, and hold still for a moment so the camera can focus.
  • Turn on QR scanning In your camera settings if your Android phone has that option.
  • Switch to Google Lens If your camera app simply ignores the code.

Still stuck? Open Templatess on your phone and search for the template by name, then tap Use Template in CapCut directly.

Scanning only opens a link. What happens next depends on your phone's settings. If the template loads in Chrome or Safari instead of CapCut:

  • Check that CapCut is installed and up to date.
  • Look for an "Open in app" or similar button on the page that loads.
  • On Android, check that CapCut is allowed to open supported links. This is usually under Settings, Apps, CapCut, Open by default, though names vary by phone.
  • Try the backup link on the template page.

If CapCut is not offered in your country, the template will not open in the app. CapCut has been blocked in India since 2020, for example. We don't share ways around regional blocks. When a template opens but the Use template button is missing, our CapCut template not showing fix can help.

Are CapCut Template QR Codes Safe?

The QR codes on Templatess contain only the link to the template on CapCut. Codes you find in comments, posters or random images can point anywhere, so treat them with the same care as any unknown link.

  • Read the link preview your phone shows before you tap it. CapCut template links normally point to capcut.com.
  • Never enter a password or payment details on a page opened from a code you don't trust.
  • Don't install apps or APK files that a QR code page asks you to download.
  • Close any page that asks you to "verify" or complete offers before showing a template.

Can I Make My Own QR Code for a Template?

Yes. If you have a template link, your own or one you want to share with friends, paste it into a trusted QR code generator and it will create a code anyone can scan. Always test the code with your own phone before you share it, and make sure the link inside is the exact template you meant.

Creators sometimes put a QR code at the end of a video or in a story so viewers can grab the template quickly. If you do this, keep the code on screen long enough for people to scan it.

Already on Your Phone? Skip the QR Code

If you are browsing Templatess on your phone, you don't need the QR code at all. Tap Use Template in CapCut on the template page and it opens straight away. Frequently Asked Questions

How do I scan a CapCut template QR code?

Open the template page on your computer and click the QR code button. Point your phone camera or Google Lens at the code until a link appears, then tap it. If CapCut is installed, the template can open in the app, ready for Use template.

Can I scan a QR code from a screenshot?

Yes, with Google Lens. Open the screenshot in Google Photos or the Google app and tap the Lens icon. It reads the code and shows the link. This helps when someone sends you a QR code image on the same phone you want to edit on.

Why does the QR code open my browser instead of CapCut?

Your phone sends the link to whichever app is set to handle it. If CapCut is missing, outdated or not allowed to open supported links, the browser takes over. Update CapCut, look for an open-in-app button, or check the app's Open by default setting on Android.

Do I need a QR scanner app?

No. Most iPhones and Android phones can scan QR codes with the built-in camera, and Google Lens works on almost any Android phone. Extra scanner apps aren't needed, and some of them show heavy ads or ask for permissions they don't need.

Is it safe to scan CapCut template QR codes?

The codes on Templatess contain only the template's link. Codes from unknown sources can lead anywhere, so check the link preview before you tap. Never enter passwords or payment details, or install files, because a page opened from a QR code asked you to.

Why won't the QR code scan?

Usually because of glare, low screen brightness, a dirty camera lens or a code that is too small. Turn up the brightness, zoom the page, hold the phone steady and keep the whole code in the frame. If your camera still ignores it, try Google Lens.
